26.10.2012 Cake proves fruitful winning Gold in 2012 CIPR PRide Cymru Awards

Cake Communications has been named gold winner of Outstanding Small Consultancy in the 2012 Wales Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards, announced last week at a black-tie dinner at The Hilton Hotel, Cardiff.

This year saw hundreds of the region’s leading public relations practitioners attend the annual awards ceremony, hosted by Matt Johnson of ITV’s This Morning.

The judging process for the PRide Awards is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners. The 2012 Chairs of Judges, Gill Dandy FCIPR, Senior Consultant at The Centre for Strategy and Communication, and Chris Genasi FCIPR, Senior Consultant at APCO Worldwide, assisted in ensuring a fair and consistent judging process.

The judges said: “Cake’s entry was enjoyable to read, and this is an agency that thinks creatively in so many ways. The ‘We Love Earth Hour’ social media campaign was totally different to that of wrapping a restaurant in red ribbon and releasing local business news. The partnership model is a nice strategy, with some bigger strategic thinking as they spread beyond Wales into London. Cake has a corporate mission that reflects the consultancy’s visions and values. This was a well thought out strategy covering all areas of the business.”

CIPR CEO, Jane Wilson MCIPR, commented: “The Welsh CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from across the region. The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving regional industry. The CIPR PRide Awards represent the best, most creative and most effective public relations work across the UK and to win an award is a great achievement.”
