04.08.2014 Cake shortlisted for 4 CIPR PRide awards

July was a busy month for team Cake.

We turned three, managed the national and international media for the launch of the Welsh Government’s Life Sciences Hub Wales (and got to meet the lovely Theo Paphitis in the process), and threw a birthday party to say thank you to our loyal clients and friends.

August had a lot to live up to. But, oh, how it managed it!

On 1st August the shortlist for the 2014 Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Cymru Wales Awards was announced. We are delighted to say that we are shortlisted in four categories, for two campaigns we are very proud of.

The first is our ‘Adopting Attitudes’ campaign for the British Association of Adoption and Fostering, designed to change perceptions around eligibility to adopt in order to tackle the chronic shortage of adopters we have here in Wales. The second is our work with social business Connect Assist, whose helplines reach out to some of the most vulnerable groups in society.

We thrive on work that makes a big impact, often on budgets that are lower than you might expect. So it’s a real honour to see these two campaigns shortlisted in the ‘Best Corporate and Business’ category (Connect Assist) and ‘Best Not For Profit’ and ‘Best Integrated’ categories (Adopting Attitudes).

And the icing on the cake is that we have been shortlisted in the ‘Consultancy of The Year’ category. Only two years ago we picked up our first gong at PRide as a fledgling agency (Outstanding Small  Consultancy) which we also scooped Silver for in 2013.

To be shortlisted for the big one only three years into our existence is a huge honour, and testament to a hard-working team that give their all day in day out to deliver campaigns that make a measurable difference.

To say we’re over the moon is an understatement.

There are many deserving campaigns up for awards and we are looking forward to sharing a fun-packed evening with our peers and clients in October.

At this juncture, we would like to give a big local radio DJ-style shout out to Community Housing Cymru, up for two well-deserved awards. We’ll have our fingers crossed for them, and perhaps a toe or two crossed for ourselves too…
