14.02.2012 We are head over heels for our planet this Valentine’s
What better day than today (Valentine’s Day) to show your love and appreciation for the wonderful world we live in? We were completely wooed by this creative video of the Cardiff Roller Collective showing their love and support for next month’s WWF Earth Hour. In line with the Earth Hour theme, these girls wore head torches as they skated in the darkness within a heart-shaped formation to show their love for our planet. Accompanying the girls on wheels is the leading environmental charity’s cuddly panda mascot. On behalf of the entire Cardiff Roller Collective group, Kerry Willecome said: “We’ve all got a soft spot for our brilliant planet and we want people in Wales to get their skates on and sign up for next month’s Earth Hour online.” The heart-warming effort of the Cardiff Roller Collective has inspired us to spread the love ourselves today in aid of the worthwhile cause – Earth Hour 2012. On 31st March 2012, those who are taking part in WWF’s Earth Hour 2012 will be ceremoniously switching off their lights for an hour at 8.30pm in a bid to support this excellent cause. We will be switching off our lights and will be attending a candle-lit dinner event. What will you be doing? You can get in on the action by signing up for WWF’s Earth Hour 2012 on WWF Cymru’s website. Whilst on the site, you can also check out how your area is marking Earth Hour on an interactive map. If you think that your community has what it takes to lead the Earth Hour switch off and you would like to be in with a chance of winning £1000 then you can enter the community competition here. All you have to do is submit, in no more than 300 words why your community should lead the switch off. You can also follow WWF’s Earth Hour in Wales via WWF Cymru’s Facebook page. On Twitter, follow @wwfcymru and tweet your support using the hashtag #lightsoutwales.
